Chemical sterilization is a critical process in healthcare settings, ensuring the safe and effective use of medical equipment and supplies. Nurses play an essential role in overseeing chemical sterilization procedures to maintain infection control standards and protect patient safety. Their involvement spans from understanding the different chemical sterilants, ensuring proper handling and storage, to monitoring the sterilization process for compliance with established protocols. This article explores the significance of nurses' roles in chemical sterilization, the types of chemical agents used, and the best practices for their safe and effective application in clinical settings. By emphasizing education, vigilance, and adherence to safety guidelines, nurses contribute significantly to the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
