Abstract

Nurses and social workers in hospitals often collaborate closely to provide holistic patient care, though their roles and responsibilities may differ. Nurses primarily focus on medical care, patient monitoring, and ensuring the physical well-being of patients, while social workers address psychosocial, emotional, and environmental issues affecting patients and their families. Despite these distinctions, their roles intersect in numerous ways, particularly in supporting patients with chronic illnesses, mental health challenges, and complex social needs. This paper explores the shared responsibilities of nurses and social workers in hospital settings, focusing on their collaborative efforts in patient assessment, care planning, and discharge processes. Understanding these overlapping duties not only enhances the quality of patient care but also fosters a more integrated approach to healthcare delivery.
