Abstract

Infection control is a fundamental aspect of healthcare, particularly in dentistry, radiology, dental assisting, and nursing, where professionals are frequently exposed to pathogens through direct contact with patients, bodily fluids, and contaminated surfaces. The prevention of cross-contamination is essential to protect both healthcare providers and patients from infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, and COVID-19. This article explores the challenges faced in maintaining strict infection control protocols, ethical considerations, and best practices for preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). It also highlights the role of sterilization, personal protective equipment (PPE), proper hygiene, and infection prevention policies in ensuring a safe healthcare environment.
