Abstract

The management of psychiatric medications requires a collaborative approach among nurses, pharmacists, and social workers to ensure safe, effective, and holistic patient care. Each professional brings a unique set of skills to the process: nurses oversee medication administration and monitor patient responses, pharmacists ensure proper drug use and educate both patients and healthcare providers on medication interactions, and social workers address social determinants of health that affect medication adherence. This multidisciplinary team plays a crucial role in ensuring patients receive the correct psychiatric medications, adhere to treatment plans, and overcome barriers to care. By working together, these healthcare professionals enhance mental health outcomes, reduce hospital readmissions, and improve patients' overall quality of life. This article explores the specific contributions of each profession, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in psychiatric medication management.
