Abstract
Telehealth and remote rehabilitation have rapidly transformed physiotherapy practice, offering new opportunities for providing accessible, cost-effective, and patient-centered care. Physiotherapists are at the forefront of this shift, delivering rehabilitation services remotely through video consultations, mobile apps, wearable devices, and telemedicine platforms. This article explores the evolving role of physiotherapists in telehealth, examining how digital health technologies are redefined rehabilitation practices and workflows. It discusses the advantages of remote physiotherapy, including increased accessibility, improved patient engagement, and continuity of care during disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the article addresses challenges such as technological limitations, patient adherence, and maintaining high-quality care remotely. Through case studies, we explore real-world implementations of tele-rehabilitation programs and their impact on patient outcomes. The article also considers the future of telehealth in physiotherapy, including the integration of AI and virtual reality, and the evolving responsibilities of physiotherapists in managing remote care.
