Abstract

Sterilization protocols and infection control are vital components of patient safety in dental practice. Dental assistants play a crucial role in managing these protocols, ensuring that instruments are properly sterilized and that infection prevention measures are consistently followed. As dental practices evolve, so too has the competency of dental assistants in risk mitigation and infection control. This article explores the evolving role of dental assistants in maintaining high standards of sterilization and infection control, highlighting their increasing responsibilities and the importance of comprehensive training and certification. It examines how advances in sterilization technologies, such as automated systems and real-time tracking software, are enhancing infection control practices.
