Abstract

The medical laboratory occupies a pivotal space at the core of the healthcare provision process, offering an indispensable service to patients that intrinsically includes diagnoses of many kinds of diseases. The diagnosis of many diseases depends on the analysis of tissue or fluid samples. Medical laboratories have a variety of techniques and methodologies that medical technology professionals use to diagnose disease and offer specific information on an ailment or the treatment for that disorder. The medical technology professionals working within a laboratory framework are responsible for serious outcomes such as the isolation of cancer cells, detection of contaminants or impurities, ascertainment of illicit drugs, and quantification of biological substances (Tomo et al., 2020). These serious responsibilities contribute to the often broad scope and incredible value for the medical laboratory’s presence and importance in the overall current-day healthcare infrastructure.
