Abstract

The multifaceted effects of metadata embedded on the media files on effective websites performance have been fully explored in this review paper. The role of metadata is thus critical in the success of optimization, discoverability, and accessibility of and finally user experience, as visual and audio content now take up an even more predominant position in the digital landscape. This paper explores different forms of media metadata (use ofEXIF, IPTC,XMP, ID3 tags), their technicalities and implications of their usage in distinct media formats(images, audio, video). We provide a careful analysis of the benefits of improved search engine optimization (SEO), a faster loading process, higher accessibility among users with disabilities, easier content management, and complex analytics by having the metadata that is accurate, rich, and optimized. In addition to this, the paper explores the possible traps of bad or over-metadata including file expansions and vulnerabilities.
